Project:AIC Wiki Creator Training
In 2024, to meet the increased demand for training on editing on the AIC wiki AIC's e-Editor and Communications and Membership Director implemented a process that utilizes AIC's Learning Platform to present a series of instructional videos. Individuals wanting to receive editing access are now required to view the initial series of videos to learn basic Mediawiki editing and etiquette for working on AIC's site. The required videos have several questions that must be answered to document completion and proceed to the next section. Additional videos will be available for more advanced editing tips. It is hoped that AIC Specialty Groups/Networks/Committees with active wiki groups will create their own editing videos on specialty topics for their content that will also be available on the Learning Platform.
Basic Wiki (Required)[edit source]
- Introduction to the AIC wiki - 6 minute video with a brief history of the site covering:
- General organizational structure
- How to connect with a wiki committee
- Basic site etiquette
- Obtaining editing access - 17 minute video with an overview of the process to obtain editing access including:
- Which videos are required versus optional
- Username and access levels
- Recommendations on the account’s associated email address
- Logging in
- Adding content to your user namespace
- Troubleshooting
At the end of this video users are asked to answer 4 questions that facilitate the creation of your wiki account by AIC's e-Editor.

- WYSIWIG editor versus source editing
- Basic formatting
- Internal v external links
- Adding a summary
- Editing resources – tips and help pages
- Troubleshooting - History, Rollback and Undo
At the end of this video, users are prompted to complete a six question quiz to reinforce key lessons from the training. Completion of the quiz and is mandatory to maintain editing access.
